Walkways

Stone paths that stay put. No shifting, no weeds, no rocking underfoot — built to last across Hanover, Chesley, Walkerton and the Grey-Bruce region.

Connect the yard. Make it walkable.

A front walk that floods and cracks every spring, a muddy path between the gate and the back door, a bare stretch of lawn that gets worn to dirt — the right walkway fixes all of it and makes the whole property look better. We build interlocking stone, flagstone and natural stone paths across Hanover, Chesley, Walkerton, Paisley and the broader Grey-Bruce region.

The stones you see are the easy part. The work that makes them stay level, locked in, and weed-free happens underneath: a compacted granular base built in thin lifts, edge restraint running the full perimeter, and polymeric sand sealed into every joint.

We handle the full scope — excavation, base, stone, and cleanup — so you get a finished walkway the day we leave.

How we build them.

01 — Excavate & compact

A base that won't move

We dig to frost-safe depth and compact granular in 100 mm lifts. The surface stays level because the base is built to stay level — one soft spot and the whole walk reacts to it.

02 — Edge restraint first

Nothing spreads outward

Spiked plastic edge restraint goes in on all sides before the first stone is placed. Without it, pavers migrate outward over years of foot traffic and freeze-thaw cycles, opening joints and creating trip hazards.

03 — Stone and polymeric sand

Locked in and weed-free

Pavers or flagstone are set to grade, cut for curves and transitions. Polymeric sand is swept into every joint, then wetted and left to cure — it hardens, locks the pattern, and shuts out weeds without chemicals.

Why ours stay level.

Three things separate a walkway that lasts decades from one that shifts and settles by its second winter — and all three happen before the first stone goes down.

  • Compacted base, built in thin lifts. Thin lifts with compaction between each one close the air pockets that cause uneven settling. One soft spot in the base and the whole surface above it reacts.
  • Edge restraint on every side. Pavers creep outward under foot traffic and freeze-thaw cycles without it. Ours is spiked in on all sides before the first stone goes down — the perimeter never moves, so nothing inside it can either.
  • Polymeric sand joints. Regular sand washes out and weeds find every gap. Polymeric sand hardens when wet, locks the joint pattern, and blocks weeds without herbicides.
